Chaired by ECCAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Marcel Mapangou Moussadji, this meeting brought together several officials from ECCAS, the African Union and the United Nations. Discussions focused on mechanisms for security cooperation, financing peace initiatives and the role of the Regional Economic Communities in conflict prevention.

In particular, participants recalled the importance of the AU-UN Joint Framework on Peace and Security and the partnership related to the implementation of the African Union Agenda 2063 and the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

During the discussions, representatives of the United Nations and the African Union encouraged ECCAS to strengthen its participation in continental security initiatives and to better coordinate its activities with other African regional organizations.

The ECCAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security also presented the functioning of the Central African Rapid Alert Mechanism (MARAC), which was seen as an essential tool in the prevention of security crises in the subregion.
