Libreville, Gabonese Republic, 11 September 2026 – The President of the Gabonese Republic, Head of State, His Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, received in audience the Chairman of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), Ambassador Dr. Ezekiel Nibigira.

The discussions focused on cooperation between the Gabonese Republic and the Community institution, as well as on major issues related to regional integration in Central Africa. This audience takes place in a context where Central Africa continues to face the challenge of translating its Community ambitions into concrete results, in particular with regard to the free movement of people and goods, the intensification of trade and the realization of common infrastructures.

As a country with ECCAS headquarters, Gabon occupies a strategic place in the functioning of the organization. This meeting provided an opportunity to take stock of the relations between Libreville and the regional institution, and to discuss the prospects for regional integration with a view to producing more tangible effects for the benefit of the people.

On that occasion, the Chairman of the ECCAS Commission welcomed Gabon's continued commitment and the multifaceted support for the organization. It also encouraged the vision of transformation and development carried by the Gabonese Head of State.

During the exchanges, cooperation between Gabon and ECCAS was central. It reflects the common will of both sides to maintain a close dialogue around the functioning and ambitions of the regional organisation. For Libreville, this commitment is part of an active diplomacy that makes subregional cooperation a key instrument for addressing challenges beyond national borders. Through this meeting, Gabon reaffirms its determination to work alongside ECCAS to build a more integrated, supportive and resilient Central Africa.
