Department mandate
The Department of Common Market, Economic, Monetary and Financial Affairs is responsible for establishing the Common Market, promoting harmonious, balanced and self-sustaining economic development, and supporting and consolidating the economic integration process. It is also responsible for establishing a free trade area among the Member States and maintaining liaison between the Community and the World Trade Organization (WTO). It is also responsible for the development and implementation of the Community’s economic, monetary, banking and financial policies.
