Brazzaville, 10 August 2026 (Republic of the Congo) - On the sidelines of the preparatory mission for the 9th edition of the Africa Infrastructure Development Programme Week (PIDA Week), Dr. Maurice NIATY-MOUUMBA, Commissioner for Territorial Planning and Infrastructure of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), was received in court by His Excellency Mr. Ludovic NGATSEMinister of Economy, Planning, Statistics and Prospective, in charge of Regional Integration of the Republic of Congo.

During this meeting, Dr Maurice NIATY-MOUUMBA recalled that since its launch in 2013, the organization of the PIDA Week is returning this year to the Central African region. The choice of the Republic of the Congo is justified by the fact that His Excellency Mr. Denis SASSOU-NPresident of the Republic, Head of State, has been nominated by his peers "Infrastructure Champion" for the Central Africa region.

The discussions also covered several integrative and structuring projects in the Republic of the Congo. These include the operationalization of the Central African Regional Civil Aviation Academy. To this end, the Congo is called upon to reaffirm its political commitment by placing the project among the priorities of its National Development Plan.

With regard to the proposed road-rail bridge between Brazzaville and Kinshasa, the Commissioner informed the Minister that the ECCAS Commission had finalized the platform for the submission of tenders and that the process of evaluating them was scheduled for October 2026 at ECCAS headquarters in Libreville.

The ECCAS Commission's high-level circular mission to the Republic of the Congo, within the framework of the Community's sustainable financing, was also mentioned during the exchanges.

In conclusion, the Commissioner presented the broad guidelines of the Community's medium-term indicative strategic plan pillar 2026-2030 (PSIMT 2026-2030) for which he is responsible. This pillar covers the transport, energy, telecommunications/ICT and land use sectors.

For his part, the Minister of Economy, Planning, Statistics and Prospective, in charge of Regional Integration, reaffirmed the readiness of his ministerial department to act as the focal point for ECCAS in the implementation of integration projects and initiatives in the Republic of the Congo.

The Territorial Planning and Infrastructure Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Guichard TSANGOU WANVOUKISSA, Director of Post, Telecommunications and Digital Economy, ECCAS, and by Mr Abdel Hamid Fadoul AbdoulayeSenior Administrative Officer of ECCAS.
