Bujumbura, 17 December 2025 (Republic of Burundi) - Prime Minister Nestor Ntahontuye received in court at the Presidential Palace of Ntare Rushatsi Ambassador Dr. Ezekiel Nibigira, Chairman of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS). The interview covered projects and ongoing activities within the regional organisation.

A scoping and information visit
Following the meeting, the Chairman of the ECCAS Commission indicated that he had come to present a report detailing the ongoing activities within ECCAS as well as future projects. This approach is part of the recommendations made at the last summit of the Heads of State of the community.

A tour of the eleven member countries
The Chairman of the ECCAS Committee said that one of its main current tasks was to meet with the authorities of the eleven member countries of the organization. The aim is to keep them systematically informed of the progress of ECCAS actions and to ensure close monitoring of regional issues.

As a reminder, Ambassador Dr. Ezekiel Nibigiraa Burundian national, took office at the head of the ECCAS Commission three months ago, following the last Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States. His visit to Bujumbura is part of his first round of formal consultations since his appointment.
