Burundi Senate receives delegation from ECCAS Commission

Bujumbura, 15 December 2025 (Republic of Burundi) - The President of the Senate, The Honourable Gervais Ndirakobucareceived a delegation from the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), led by Ambassador Dr. Ezekiel Nibigira, recently appointed head of the subregional organization.

The Chairman of the ECCAS Commission said that it was a courtesy visit. It intervenes three months after its appointment by the Heads of State and Government of the Central African region. Furthermore, he said that the meeting was an opportunity to inform the Burundian authorities of the progress of activities within his mandate. The aim is to seek their guidance and advice, in order to ensure the continuity and proper execution of its mission at the head of the organization.

The Chairman of the ECCAS Commission, Ambassador Dr. Ezekiel Nibigira also expressed its gratitude to the national institutions for the warm welcome and availability reserved for itself and to the entire ECCAS Commission delegation accompanying it.
