Kinshasa, 7 May 2026 (Democratic Republic of the Congo) - The delegation of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), led by His Excellency Lucas Abaga Nchama, Minister for Regional Integration of Equatorial Guinea and President of the Council of Ministers of ECCAS, undertook a working mission to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, from 4 to 7 May 2026.

The President of the ECCAS Council of Ministers was accompanied by the Chairman of the ECCAS Commission, Dr. Ezekiel Nibigira, as well as two Community Commissioners, including General Mapangou, in charge of Peace and Security, and Mr. Maxime Nzita, in charge of Environment, Natural Resources, Mines, Agriculture and Rural Development.

The delegation also included the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Gabon, Mr. François Luambo, and Mr. Freddy Nze Commissioner General for Regional Integration of the Gabonese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his stay, the delegation was received by several high-level Congolese authorities, including the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the President of the Senate, the President of the National Assembly, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Budget, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Regional Integration, Anzuluni Bembe, who facilitated the various working sessions.

Discussions focused on the implementation of the Community Integration Contribution (CIC) within the Member States, the settlement of statutory contributions and arrears of contributions, as well as integration projects and peace and security issues in the subregion.

The various parties also discussed mechanisms for strengthening regional cooperation and prospects for accelerating the integration process in Central Africa.

The Congolese authorities reaffirmed their commitment to the objectives of ECCAS and to the consolidation of regional integration in Central Africa, while stressing the importance of enhanced cooperation among member States to promote stability, peace and regional development.

Finally, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, His Excellency Félix Antoine TSHISEKEDI officially congratulated Mr Maxime Nzita on his appointment to the ECCAS Commission under the current mandate.
