Kinshasa, 25 July 2026 (Democratic Republic of the Congo) - The project to build the road-rail bridge on the Congo River between the cities of Brazzaville and Kinshasa is entering a new phase.
At the invitation of the Chairman of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), a meeting of the Joint Technical Committee (JTC) of the project for the construction of the road bridge on the Congo River between the cities of Brazzaville and Kinshasa was held from 22 to 25 July 2026. It follows the call for proposals launched on 1 July 2026 which provides for a visit to the works site. 23 July 2026 with the five (05) Pre-qualified groups, followed by a first clarification meeting on 24 July 2026 whose tender is due on 1 October 2026.
As planned, on 23 July 2026, the delegations of ECCAS, the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, accompanied by the pre-qualified Groups, made a field visit and visited the site of the future bridge. The visit resulted in:
– To assess the ongoing development of the bridge access road;
– Present the pillar of the axis of the future work and its grip;
– Exchange in situ with Pre-qualified Groups.
On 24 and 25 July 2026, the CTM held a clarification meeting with the Groups present. It confirmed receipt of the first set of Grouping questions and provided the necessary answers. These clarifications will be formalized in writing and communicated to all candidates. A site visit certificate will be issued to each Grouping present.
At the end of this mission, it should already be noted that the strategic partner selection process has been a decisive step forward.
The visit to the site and the exchanges with the Groups show the common will of the DRC, the Congo and ECCAS to achieve a happy conclusion to the call for proposals process.
