Libreville, 06 March 2026 ( Gabonese Republic) - A delegation from the Energy Pool of Central Africa (PEAC), led by Mr Rui Pereira do Amaral Gourgel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Transport Company of Angola (RNT-EP) and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the PDAC, made a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

This meeting is part of the institutional exchanges relating to the development of the regional electricity market and the strengthening of energy integration in Central Africa.
During the hearing, the Dr. Maurice Niaty-MouambaCommissioner, Head of Department of Land Planning and Infrastructure, representing the Chairman of the ECCAS Commission, reaffirmed the commitment of the Community institution to support PDAC initiatives. He stressed the strategic importance of the Energy Pool in promoting electricity interconnections and developing regional energy infrastructure.

The Commissioner also extended his congratulations to Mr Rui Pereira do Amaral Gourgel on his re-election, for a two-year term, as Chairman of the PEEC Steering Committee, which took place at the 27th ordinary session of the Committee, held on 5 March 2026 in Libreville, Gabon.

For his part, the Chairman of the PEAP Steering Committee welcomed the quality of cooperation between the two institutions and reiterated the PEAP's commitment to continue efforts to build a regional electricity market for the development and integration of Central African countries.

The hearing was also attended by Mr. Atadet AZARAK MOGRO and Mr. Désiré NDEMAZAGOA BACKOTTA, Permanent Secretary of the PEAP and Director of Energy of the ECCAS Commission, as well as the executives of the Angola Electricity Transport Company (RNT-EP), the experts of the ECCAS Commission and the Permanent Secretariat of the PEAP.

It should be recalled that the PEAP is the specialised institution of ECCAS, responsible for promoting the expansion of Community energy infrastructure and for creating the commercial, legal and technical conditions conducive to the establishment of a regional electricity market.
